Kevan Pellant retired from the State of Kansas Department of Corrections in 2011 after more than 30 years of work within the juvenile and adult criminal justice systems. Kevan retired as a deputy secretary for the Department of Corrections where she also acted as warden, interstate compact commissioner, and secretary of corrections. Kevan has had supervisory and management positions within county and state agencies since 1975. In addition, Kevan has been an adjunct instructor for Washburn University Department of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies since 1985. Instruction has included topics such as juvenile justice, correctional administration, probation and parole, introduction to corrections, and treatment strategies.
Kevan has served as treasurer and president of the Kansas Correctional Association. As a member of this association, she received a Woman of Distinction award. Kevan volunteers within the community through the YWCA of NEKS, as a board of director’s member, and as a mentor for female inmates.
Kevan received a bachelor’s degree from Emporia University in Sociology and a minor in Psychology. She received a master’s degree in Administration of Justice from Wichita State University.
